# Privacy

This page explains what happens to information when you visit [ojash.com](https://ojash.com) or send me a message. I keep this site simple and use information only to run it, respond to you, and understand how it is used.

## Information you send

If you use the contact form, I receive the name, email address, and message you provide. The message is saved in a private database on the site's server, and an email notification is sent to [hello@ojash.com](mailto:hello@ojash.com). I keep messages while they are useful for responding and record keeping. You can ask me to delete a message by emailing me.

## Information sent when you visit

Your browser and the site's hosting server exchange technical information to load pages, such as your IP address, requested page, browser details, and the time of the request. The hosting provider may keep server logs for operation and security.

## Analytics and location

This site uses self-hosted [Plausible Analytics](https://plausible.io/data-policy) on this server to count visits, pages, link clicks, scroll depth, downloads, and successful contact forms. Plausible does not use analytics cookies. The dashboard is private. If you allow analytics in the site prompt, Google Analytics 4 also measures visits and interactions using cookies. Google receives this data under [Google’s privacy policy](https://policies.google.com/privacy). You can change your choice at any time using “Analytics settings” in the footer. Google Analytics does not load when you decline.

The footer may show a previous visitor's approximate city or country and your local time. The city and country come from your IP address using [DB-IP City Lite](https://db-ip.com/db/download/ip-to-city-lite). The site keeps only a salted hash of the IP address and the coarse location for at most 30 days, with at most 20 recent visits stored. The full IP address is not kept in this location database. You can hide the footer location by blocking the `/api/visit` request.

## Spotify and other services

This site may show music information from a connected Spotify account and embed Spotify players. Spotify receives information when you interact with its player; its handling of that information is covered by [Spotify's privacy policy](https://www.spotify.com/legal/privacy-policy/). Other links may take you to services with their own privacy policies.

## Access and security

Contact messages are available only through the site's private administration system. I use reasonable measures to protect information, but no website or method of storage can be guaranteed completely secure.
